Merissa is a mixed media artist, tutor & curator from Reading, Berkshire. She worked as a bespoke textile & interior designer for 12 years before deciding to leave the corporate design world to return to her first love - art.
She studied art and design at London Guildhall University (Sir John Cass School of Art) and it has always been her goal and passion to share her art with the world. Her work is inspired by many things; her Jamaican and West African ancestry, emotions, mental health, self acceptance and healing. Merissa creates artwork that speaks to people on a personal level - each piece has its own journey and story. She believes that every piece she creates will resonate with someone, somewhere.
Merissa is a strong advocate of art as a form of creative therapy. She currently works as an Art Tutor for Centrepieces, a mental health arts charity & strongly believes that engaging in art - whether in a creative capacity or a voyeuristic role - has a beneficial effect on mental health and personal wellbeing.
