Ekow Oliver is a London born child of the Diaspora. First born of his Ghanaian mother and Montserratian father, his home life gave him an early appreciation of how broad blackness is and all that it could be. His love of the imagery evoked in various genres of Black music inspired him once he picked up a camera, to try and capture and magnify every moment. Focusing on event photography, Ekow’s candid style always draws focus to the various aspects of Blackness. He embraces and celebrates the diaspora and our various identities within it. The ultimate point of Ekow’s photos is for us to see ourselves, honour our past, love all that we are and all that we might be. His mission is to “document blackness”.
